You're effectively gimping a build by not including an elite.

People don't AB because 4 of the 5 maps are purposely unbalanced and stacked in favor of one side. So why would anyone wanna go play on a map that is inherently stacked against them? It makes no sense, unless perhaps one is a masochist.
Not to mention the rewards for winning are really bad and hence offer little further incentive to put up with playing on maps that are stacked against you.

Just change your guild to Luxon and you will get a lot more games.

If that were true, then less people would be at Fort Aspenwood...

sheesh the only time I've AB'ed when I was 'forced' by an old guild (I quickly had enough of that and left the guild).
The entire concept of factions was poorly conceived, and that's why there's absolutely *zero* follow-up with that in nf.
I'd say it's good for one thing: balthazar faction for non-pvp'ers. However, rarely do non-pvp'ers ever need balth

Heh despite people saying AB is horrible, the arena is most of the time pretty packed. There's a lot of people out there who actually enjoy it. I play a lot of TA battles as well, but let's not talk about the number of clueless people there, ouch. OK, true, there's no noobs in HA, that's just because they don't make it past the first map. Everytime someone posts something on AB because they think it sucks to wait for 15 minutes to do something you happen to like, there's always idiots posting stuff like: Don't play AB it's bad for your health. LOL hardcore players are a minority, the rest is just casually owning AB battles. It's the only get-in-quick-and-own-some PvP around anyway that makes sense. RA is spoilt by farmers and leavers and aspenwood, well, let's say you are lucky if there is < 3 leechers. For casual players that want to PvP AB is pretty lame, they either wait forever, or don't PvP at all .

To OP: There are still people that AB (including myself) and guilds as a whole. However I can’t stand some of these guilds forcing their members to AB most of the time, instead of enjoying GW as a whole.
As for those calling AB immature and non-skillful, you should rethink about how the other arenas (excluding random arenas) are like. The repetitiveness is simply horrid; it’s the same build over, and over again. No uniqueness what so ever. To me it’s all about the testing ground of AB and random arenas. Yes I can tolerate the leavers, lechers, and immaturity to the black and white skill base of the other PvP arenas. Furthermore there is still a problem with people being immature in general across all PvP arenas. Of course this is my own personal preference and everyone has their own.

This is misinformation, I checked both sides last night and there were 9 afk luxons on one and 2 full districts of kurzicks on the other.

Why play on the 4 maps? Fun, more of a challenge ,maybe? The rewards are what they are. Remember even though you are competing against the other faction in AB, in reality you are competing against the other alliances of your faction, to whom the rewards are the same as you're receiving, therefore the level of reward is irrelevant. Or, are you looking at this from the point of view of maxing the title, in which case could this be yet another "I want this right now" post.

Playing AB when the map is against you is perhaps when it is most fun. If your team plays right, you can still steam roll the enemy. Mind you they would have to be a pretty bad enemy if you managed to push them right back to their base, so its not supprising they loose.
There are still alot of guilds playing AB. Ocassionaly you get match after match of guild teams against pugs, which nearly always eliminates any map advantage (pugs mob. Always. Its the law of Alliance Battles.)
For the most part, if you turn off local chatter, you get a much more plesant playing experience.
As for the rewards, you get Alliance faction very very fast, even if you loose all the time. Donating to your Alliance is useless unless you want a title, but it is the fastest way to collect amber/jade for armour.

Lol, comments like these are funny... Just cos there is no elite, don't make the build redundant... Sure, elites help, but they don't nullify the build...
As for AB, I think it's a fun place to run around and mash people when u got nothing better to do... Leavers are the most annoying, as well as thos afkers that join teams then never move from the base (leechers I think).
Once you in and get rolling it's pretty fun tho, killing people, being killed... I generally have a good experience... I tend to ignore the "ZOMG KURZUCK, SUXON" kids all together, not much they can do when you don't retaliate... And I always start with GL HF in public chat then GG after (Win or loose)
That said, I still don't like the fact the PvP influences PvE... the 2 should be seperate...

Hehe the spies are always funny to deal with. But yea, if AB had more maps and more equal maps, it would be much better.

How true...I hate #1 with a passion...but its something we all have to do with. AB is still fun to just kill people...and get killed when you have nothing else to do.

Agree, but the sad truth is that AB isn't the thing anymore in GW. Peoples has been either grinding away on new titles or doing HM missions again or working on their characters in Nightfall.

We all got so bored we danced.
(The pic has my build on it BTW)
Please AB MORE!
(This is not a rant, but a suggestion.AB is good for testing builds and making PUGS for PvE)

It is no wonder assassin are the way they are in Ab look at all those attack skills. This probably one reason I don't AB that much a lot of bad builds. It would nice if ppl carried res sigs as well. This so players won't have to be ressed all the time at shrines or at base camp.

Not everyone cares about PvP in any way, including AB. I'm one of them. So no thanks...
And to the guy that questioned a build for not having an elite, there's nothing that says you must use one.

You see this thread could've been a constructive debate on the state of Alliance Battles.
But it's Jacks like him that turn it into a flame/hate thread. This happens all too often...
